Are Your Tires Bad? What You Need To Know

Are Your Tires Bad? What You Need To Know

Solid and durable tires offer many benefits to drivers. They create a smoother ride and deliver better control, making it easier to maneuver and stay safe on the road. However, they are rubber, and after a while, expect the wear to take some toll. You may not notice an immediate difference, so it's best to understand how to recognize tire changes and problems. The following are signs it could be time to invest in new wheels.

1. Thin Tread

Thickness matters with tires. They hold up the car and battle the elements. When you travel over gravel, dirt or the highway, you want wheels that can handle bumps and debris. A robust tread lends toughness and strength. Thin rubber, however, is weaker and more likely to bust. Should that happen, you could pop a tire.

Complete the coin test. In the past, people relied on a penny. New studies say to switch to quarter. Place the quarter in the tread. If you see most of Washington's head, you have a problem. Head to a shop for tire replacements Beltsville MD.

2. Odd Shapes

Tires should remain in a consistently round and inflated shape. If they incur damage, that could change. Be sure to see a mechanic immediately if you notice a bulge in the side.

3. Strange Noises

If the suspension system is harmed, you may notice squeaks and squeals. While this issue may not directly be the tires, allowing it to linger could put more pressure on the rubber and create safety issues. Be sure to fix it quickly.

4. Tire Pressure Changes

Most vehicles warn owners about car pressure changes. Lights pop up warning about low numbers. Try putting in more air to see if that rectifies the problem. It's normal to have fluctuations with weather changes or long rides. However, if it continues, you may have a hole in one or more tires, demanding replacement parts.

Drive safely with tires that defend you from trouble. Understand when the problem may start. If you suspect something is wrong, see professionals for assistance.
