Ford has shown off the new Mondeo. In China, the new Ford Mondeo will compete with Volkswagen Passat. It was revealed at Ford's China Design Centre in Shanghai to demonstrate its unique design language for the region.
The Ford Mondeo was initially sold in China in 2002, nearly a decade after it was introduced in Europe. From 2002 to 2006, Ford also offered the Ford Mondeo in India. The new Ford Mondeo will be manufactured in a joint venture between Ford and Changan Automobile Company; deliveries in China will begin in the second quarter of 2022. The new Ford Mondeo will not be sold in Europe.
Aside from an octagonal grille, the sports slender LED headlights are connected by a light strip along the bonnet's leading edge, separate daytime running lights, and an A-shaped design for the air duct in the bottom section of the front bumper.
The new Ford Mondeo has a contoured bonnet, massive wheelhouses housing wheels up to 19 inches, fender-like edges, a coupe-style roofline contrasting with the rest of the body, and feature lines within the trailing parts of the rear doors and quarter-panels, just like the Ford Evos.
The rear is distinguished by a short deck, Mustang-inspired taillights, and a bumper with a diffuser. The dimensions of the 2022 Ford Mondeo are 4,935mm long, 1,875mm wide, and 1500mm height.
For the time being, there are no specifics on the powertrains that will be available for the new Ford Mondeo.
Changan Ford is a family-run business that sells Ford-branded cars. The company has grown at a different pace than other Ford-related businesses. In China, the Ford Escort name is still used, but the Ford Focus name has taken its place. Changan Ford makes cars from Europe and the United States, including the EcoSport, Explorer, Taurus, Zephyr, and Ford Evos. Changan Ford, which is based in Chongqing, also makes Lincoln-brand cars. @via Ford China.
