Giving Your Forestry Truck the Maintenance It Deserved

Giving Your Forestry Truck the Maintenance It Deserved

If you purchased a bucket truck, whether it is a brand new one or a used forestry truck, you should know how to properly care for it and give it preventive maintenance care. A bucket truck is not a cheap investment and people are buying it not just because of its design but also of its use. With proper maintenance, you can get a lifetime of service with your forestry truck.

What to Check

Preventive maintenance doesn’t mean checking your entire truck every day but rather it means that you will check some important parts from time to time. Among the parts that you should constantly check are its engine, power steering, lubricant presence on its wheel seals and transmission.

You should also check all belts like the engine belt, its radiator hoses, water, power, and air lines, and the transmission lines. Before driving out, always check your tires if they have enough pressure as well as its wheels and rims for any cracks.

Lastly, give your battery connections the attention it deserves and always test your lights especially if you are heading out in the forest where tall trees can make the area dark or it is too foggy. In addition, keep your truck equipped with first aid kit and survival kits such as fire extinguisher and flares.

Extending your Forest Truck’s Life

Always listen to what the manufacturer is saying about your boom truck. They already provided recommendations in terms of when to replace liquids in different parts of your truck like the engine oil (250 hours), automatic transmission (500 hours), standard transmission (1,000 hours), and so on. There is a long list of these recommendations for a bucket truck and you cannot remember them all, make an alert on your smartphone.

Whether you are driving brand new or used forestry trucks for your job or you just want to use a boom truck in driving around your town, you should learn to do proper maintenance to achieve longer life for your truck. Regular maintenance won’t just keep you safe while driving your truck, it will also allow you to do more with your forestry truck.
