Top Destinations for OTR Truck Drivers

While being an OTR (over the road) truck driver isn’t the easiest job in the world, it is definitely one of the most rewarding for those who love traveling and seeing the beautiful sites America has to offer. What are the ideal routes? Here are some destinations that will take you on some of the most scenic routes you could possibly hope to see, as well as enjoy yourself when you arrive.

Phoenix, Arizona

A major city in the desert, there are always truck driving jobs hauling grain available that lead to Phoenix, Arizona. The southern route to Phoenix is comprised mostly of Highway 40, one of the most scenic routes in the entire country. You’ll pass through the Painted Desert, Petrified Forest National Park, and the unforgettable Mojave National Preserve. There are some fun stops along the way, like Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Flagstaff, Arizona. This is one route you’ll never get tired of.

The Florida Keys

Driving from anywhere to the Keys is a remarkable trip, especially from Key Largo to Key West. This stunning trip follows the Florida coast down Highway 95 and then to US 1 through the Keys, island-hopping as you go. The islands are surrounded by gorgeous blue-green water as far as you can see. When you arrive, there are plenty of watersports to occupy your downtime, including some of the best snorkeling on the planet.

Butte, Montana

There are many ways to get your load to Butte, Montana, and all of them are fantastic. Northern routes will take you through the magical landscapes of North or South Dakota. A southern route will bring you up through Wyoming where you’ll pass right through Yellowstone National Park. Instead of watching the road for raccoons or rabbits, you’ll be seeing elk, deer, and moose. The famous “Big Sky Country” vistas will take your breath away.

The United States is packed with beautiful drives, but these three are not to be missed. Treat yourself to some amazing experiences as you discover the reason you became an OTR trucker in the first place.
