Searching for a reputable auto repair shop

If you were recently involved in a car accident, you may need to have some repair work done on your car.  So what should you be looking for when searching for a reputable auto repair shop St. Peters Mo?  In this article, we will be discussing how to find a dependable auto body shop and what characteristics you should look for. 

- Check the certifications of the auto body shop 

Find out whether the shop has manufacturer certifications.  If technicians are certified, that means they have been trained and have the proper tools for working on specific models of cars.  

- Ask if the shop warranties its work 

Reputable auto body shops offer lifetime warranties, whether it is the customer or an insurance company paying the bill.  Look for a warranty that lasts as long as you own your vehicle and that completely covers workmanship and part failure caused by manufacturer defects.  

- Don't settle for anything less than the best

When a car is not completely totaled, some vehicle owners are happy to just take their car to the body shop that is suggested by their insurance company.  Although that might be fine, it is very important for you to understand that by law you aren't required to do that. 

You are allowed to choose whichever repair facility you want. The auto body shop should be working for as the customer, and not for the insurance company.  You don't want to have a repair shop taking shortcuts due to being worried about the relationship they have with your insurance company.  The insurance company may be able to negotiate discounted parts and lower rates, so it can be beneficial, but just make sure the auto repair shop is working in your best interests. 

- Other important considerations: 

Ask if the repair shop uses a shop management software program to streamline its processes. If they have an efficient system in place, you are assured that your vehicle is in good hands. 

Look for transparent pricing. A reputable shop should provide estimates and explain the work that needs to be done in detail and should not pressure you into getting unnecessary services.

Find out whether the auto body shop uses original factory parts or used or aftermarket parts.  Original factory parts are much better for your car.   

Search or a company that has a solid reputation for providing quality repairs and customer service. 

Read online reviews from trusted sources.  

Find a shop that has experience working with your specific make and model. 

Get several estimates.
