How to Protect Leather Motorcycle Products

How to Protect Leather Motorcycle Products

Leather motorcycle apparel can fade or stain in certain environments. If you don't know how to protect leather apparel, the strategies in this guide can help.

General Spots

When there is a spot on your leather jacket, you can remove it with a mild soapy solution. To create suds, combine dish soap with warm water. After there are many bubbles in the water, dip a soft rag into the mixture, and wring it out to remove any excess water. Finally, wipe the soiled spot on the jacket with the damp rag.

If you don't want to smear soapy suds on your leather jacket, cleanse the spot with a vinegar solution instead. You can make this type of cleanser by combining vinegar and tap water.

Protection Strategies

A strong defense is the best strategy, so you should always try to keep dirt and grime off of your leather motorcycle products. For example, following a rainstorm, avoid riding your bike on streets that have puddles. If someone in a car drives over a puddle while your motorcycle is by a stoplight, momentum may propel the muddy water onto your leather apparel. If mud still lands on your apparel, never treat the stain immediately. Instead, wait until the mud dries because dried mud brushes off of leather with ease.

You shouldn't wear leather motorcycle gear on a sunny day for an extended length of time. The big problem is that the sun's UV rays have properties that can harm leather on a microscopic level, and the effects can decrease a fancy leather product's appeal.

These strategies can help you keep your cruiser motorcycle apparel in optimum condition. To achieve the best results, mix and match traditional apparel, and only wear your leather products occasionally.
