What Supplies Does Your Shop Need?

What Supplies Does Your Shop Need?

Repairing, painting and customizing vehicles is a dirty job, but that doesn’t mean that your shop has to be dirty to function. In addition to general car supplies like parts and tools, your shop will also need some cleaning and office supplies, even if it is just a home hobby shop.

Cleaning Supplies

Different types of repair jobs need different types of cleaning supplies. When you are washing the dashboard, for example, you will want different cleaning rags and chemicals than when you are washing the wheel wells. Getting wholesale cleaning cloths for your shop can ensure that you have a supply of a variety of sizes and textures for every job.

Office Supplies

Even in a home hobby shop, you will need some office supplies. These can help you write down parts shopping lists, keep paperwork filed neatly so you know where your maintenance records are and much more. The bigger the shop, and the more people who use it, the more office supplies you are likely to need. Most of the time, these supplies can fit neatly in the drawer of your workbench to be easy to reach, but out of the way when not needed.

General Supplies

Some of the general supplies your auto shop should have on hand include jumper cables, automotive toolbox with tools and a jack. You can also get specialty equipment such as lifts, pneumatics and more depending on the size of your shop and your budget. You will probably want a variety of hose clamps, oil filter wrenches and containers to help you with odd jobs and routine maintenance ones.

Whether you are running a professional auto shop with hundreds of customers or fixing up your own equipment in your home garage, having a well-stocked shop is a good idea. You will want to consider not only general automotive supplies, but also cleaning and office supplies to ensure that you can find what you need.
