This very morning, Hyundai introduced the new Elantra and Elantra Hybrid in a special broadcast event.
The 2021 Elantra showcases Hyundai's latest ambitions, including a Sensuous Sportiness design identity, hybrid technology, and wireless connectivity like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. According to the brand, production of the Elantra will begin in the autumn in Ulsan, Korea and at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama, also sales will begin in the fourth quarter of this year.
The interior design envelops the driver like an airplane cabin. The low and wide structures go from the door to the centre console. A large interface consisting of two harmoniously connected 10.25-inch displays enhances the car's futuristic look.
The model features 64-color customizable ambient lighting, a driver-oriented console, centre trim. The interior dimensions will improve because the new Elantra is longer, wider and lower.
For the first time in the model's history, a hybrid powertrain has been added. The Elantra Hybrid demonstrates Hyundai's commitment to expanding its environmentally focused product line.
The new Elantra Hybrid has a four-cylinder 1.6 litres GDI Atkinson engine. The Elantra Hybrid's electric motor delivers 32 kW powered by a 1.32 kWh capacity lithium-ion battery placed under the rear seats.
The 1.6-litre GDI engine combined with the electric motor in Elantra Hybrid offers a power of 139 hp and 144 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with the six-speed dual-clutch transmission that sets the Elantra Hybrid apart from its key competitors due to its more dynamic and engaging driving experience. The high-efficiency electric motor has an electric-only drive mode that offers instant torque at low speeds and electric assistance at higher speeds.
The Elantra SE, SEL and Limited will arrive in combination with a 2.0L MPI Atkinson Cycle engine that also focuses on fuel economy. This engine generates 147 hp and 97 Nm of torque at 4500 rpm.
Hyundai's third-generation vehicle platform also dramatically improves the overall design, safety, efficiency, power and driving performance. The new Elantra weighs less, has better fuel economy and is stronger in compared to the previous generation. The new platform allowed engineers to lower Elantra's centre of gravity to offer a more agile and sporty ride.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be available on the 10.25-inch widescreen. Dual Bluetooth compatibility is also available. The navigation system also comes with three years of Blue Link® Multimedia / Maps updates.
The Hyundai Elantra offers a new range of advanced safety technologies as standard including: Front Collision Prevention Assistance (FCA) with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Keeping Assistance (LKA), Lane Tracking Assistance ( LFA), high Beam Assist (HBA), driver attention warning system (DAW) and a rearview camera with dynamic guidelines.
