Ford Kuga Plug-in Hybrid Now Starts Under €39k With 60 km EV Range

Ford Kuga Trend Business hybrid

Ford has made the Ford Kuga PHEV harder to ignore. The new Trend Business entry version drops the plug-in hybrid SUV's starting price to €38,990, while retaining the same 2.5-litre plug-in hybrid drivetrain, 243 pk output, automatic transmission, and serious towing capacity.

Looking at the data, Ford did not weaken the core hardware to reach the lower price. The Ford Kuga Trend Business hybrid still uses a 2.5-litre Duratec petrol engine paired with an electric motor and HF55 automatic transmission, sending power to the front wheels. That gives business drivers and private buyers a useful mix: electric commuting during the week, petrol range for long trips, and enough towing strength for caravans or trailers.

Why The Lower Price Works

Specifically, Ford uses the Trend Business trim to protect the high-value hardware and trim some premium extras. That means buyers still get the drivetrain, towing rating, safety suite, digital cockpit, and connected infotainment without paying Titanium or ST-Line money.

In addition, the Kuga Plug-In Hybrid carries a strong tax and running-cost argument for buyers. The official CO2 range sits at 55-71 g/km, while combined WLTP fuel use runs from 2.8-6.1 l/100 km depending on use and specification. Those figures depend heavily on charging discipline, but they give daily commuters a real cost-control tool.

By comparison, many plug-in hybrid SUVs quote electric range but compromise towing. The Kuga takes a different route. Its 4,480 kg maximum train weight and 100 kg nose weight make it a stronger fit for caravans, boat trailers, and horse trailers than many family crossovers in this price band.

Pro-Tips

Charge it nightly if your commute stays under 60 km. That gives the Ford Kuga PHEV its strongest financial case because the petrol engine then covers mainly longer routes.

Choose the towbar option only after checking your trailer weight, nose weight, and holiday load. The 2,100 kg rating looks strong, but payload still sets the real-world limit once passengers and luggage enter the equation.

Is The Ford Kuga Trend Business The Smart One To Buy?

From an expert perspective, yes, for buyers who want the drivetrain rather than luxury trim. The Trend Business price brings the Kuga PHEV below the previous entry point while keeping the 243 pk output, usable electric range, 1,517-litre maximum cargo volume, and 2,100 kg braked towing capacity.

Hence, this version should pull attention from higher-priced plug-in hybrid SUVs. It targets the buyer who studies monthly cost, charging access, towing needs, and boot space before choosing badge prestige. That buyer now has a sharper Ford option.
