The engine developed for the BMW M Performance Automobiles delivers a maximum output of 280 kW/381 hp and peak torque of 740 Newton meters (546 lb-ft), making these two BMW X models stand out among other diesel-engined vehicles in this segment. The BMW X5 M50d accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.4 seconds, while the BMW X6 M50d does it in 5.3 seconds. Both models also benefit from the diesel engine's powerful reserves during short sprints at higher speeds. The top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph) in both cases.
In addition to performance, the fuel efficiency of the BMW X5 M50d and BMW X6 M50d is impressive.
