The new Opel Astra will be offered as a plug-in hybrid with a combination electric and gasoline engine that produces 180 hp. It will be capable of running only on electric power for up to 60 kilometers before switching to the hybrid mode for longer excursions. A gasoline engine producing 130 hp and an automatic transmission with eight different gear ratios are also available for this model.
