Peugeot is a brand that has always been known for its innovative and distinctive design, as well as its practical and efficient cars. This year, Peugeot has once again proved its excellence in design by winning a prestigious Red Dot Award for its new Peugeot 408, a fastback SUV that combines dynamic styling, modern technology, and versatile performance.
The Red Dot Award is one of the most respected design awards in the world, with more than 60 years of history and an international jury of 43 experts. The award recognizes products that stand out for their high quality, functionality, and aesthetics. Peugeot has received the Red Dot Award for the eighth time, joining other iconic models such as the 205, the 3008, and the e-208.
Matthias Hossann, Design Director Peugeot, said: "I am particularly honored to receive this award, which recognizes the design. With this new silhouette, the Peugeot 408 shows all the inventiveness and know-how of the Peugeot design teams, but also the modernity of the brand."
The Peugeot 408 is a unique car that defies conventional categories. It is a fastback SUV that blends the elegance and sportiness of a coupé with the spaciousness and versatility of an SUV. It is based on the same platform as the Peugeot 308 hatchback but has a longer wheelbase and higher ground clearance. It also has a sleek roofline that slopes down to a sharp rear end, creating a striking fastback silhouette.
The design of the Peugeot 408 is characterized by striking lines and curves that create sharp facets and dynamic contrasts. The front end features a large grille with vertical bars, the new Peugeot logo, and LED headlights with a three-claw light signature. The sleek and elegant side profile has flush door handles and chrome accents. The rear end features LED taillights across the tailgate and a chrome strip on the C-pillar that lights up when charging.
The interior of the Peugeot 408 is equally impressive, with a futuristic and luxurious design. The dashboard is dominated by screens, including a digital instrument cluster for the driver, a large infotainment touchscreen in the center, and an entertainment screen for the front passenger. The seats are covered in leather and have heating, cooling, and massage functions. The climate control and other features are also controlled via touchscreens.
The Peugeot 408 can accommodate up to five passengers in two rows of seats. The cabin is spacious and comfortable, with plenty of legroom and headroom for all occupants. The boot space is generous, with 530 liters of volume that can be expanded to 1,430 liters by folding down the rear seats.
