Peugeot e-208: The French Revolution in Electric Cars

Peugeot e-208

Peugeot e-208 is not just another electric car. It's a statement of intent from a brand that has been reinventing itself in recent years with sharp design, innovative technology, and impressive quality. The Peugeot e-208 is the electric version of the Peugeot 208 supermini, one of Europe's best-selling cars in 2022. But unlike some of its rivals, the e-208 doesn't scream its eco credentials with flashy badges or quirky styling. It looks almost identical to the petrol and diesel versions, except for a few subtle details like a body-colored grille, a charging port on the rear left fender, and an "e" logo on the front wings.

The Peugeot e-208 electric car is based on the same platform as the regular Peugeot 208, which means it has the same dimensions, interior space, and boot capacity. The only difference is that instead of a combustion engine under the hood, a 50 kWh battery pack powers a 136 hp electric motor driving the front wheels. The battery pack is cleverly integrated into the floor and the rear axle, so it doesn't compromise the cabin or the luggage space.

The e-208 can travel up to 224 miles on a single charge, according to the WLTP cycle, which is more than enough for most urban and suburban journeys. And if you need to top up, you can use a 100 kW DC fast charger to get from 0 to 80% in just 30 minutes.

The Peugeot e-208 electric hatchback is not only efficient but also fun to drive. It has instant torque of 221 lb-ft, which makes it accelerate briskly from 0 to 62 mph in 8.1 seconds. That's faster than any other 208 model and faster than most electric superminis on the market.

The e-208 also handles well, thanks to its low center of gravity, balanced weight distribution and precise steering. It feels agile and stable around corners, while the suspension easily absorbs bumps and potholes. The e-208 has three driving modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport, which adjust the power output, throttle response, and regenerative braking intensity. You can also choose between two levels of regenerative braking: D for normal coasting and B for stronger deceleration when you lift off the accelerator.

The e-208 is not only a pleasure to drive but also to look at. It has a sleek and sporty shape, with sharp lines, LED headlights and taillights, a black roof and a choice of eye-catching colors. The interior is equally stylish and modern, with a digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel, a 10-inch touchscreen on the dashboard, and piano-key buttons for the main functions.

The Peugeot e-208 also features Peugeot's signature i-Cockpit design, which consists of a small steering wheel that gives you a clear view of the instruments and a head-up display that projects key information onto the windshield. The cabin is well-built and spacious, with comfortable seats, plenty of storage spaces, and decent room for four adults. The boot has a capacity of 311 liters, which is average for the class but can be expanded to 1,106 liters by folding the rear seats.

The e-208 is not only well-equipped but also well-connected. It comes with a range of standard and optional features that make your life easier and safer on the road. These include:

  • A smartphone app that lets you remotely check the battery status, pre-condition the cabin temperature, and plan your charging stops.
  • A navigation system that shows you nearby charging stations, their availability and prices.
  • A wireless charging pad for your phone.
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
  • A reversing camera and parking sensors.
  • Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function.
  • Lane-keeping assistance and blind spot monitoring.
  • Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.

The Peugeot e-208 is not only a smart choice but also an affordable one. It starts from $32,000 in France (before incentives), which is competitive with other electric superminis like the Renault Zoe or the Mini Electric. And thanks to its low running costs (no fuel, no oil changes, no road tax), you can save money in the long run. Peugeot also offers an eight-year or 100,000-mile warranty on the battery and a three-year or 60,000-mile warranty on the rest of the car.

The Peugeot e-208 is a great electric car and a great car, period. It combines style, performance, practicality, and technology in a compact and attractive package. It's a car that appeals to your head and heart and makes you feel good about driving electric. It's a car that proves that Peugeot is at the forefront of the electric revolution and that the future of mobility is bright and exciting.

The new Peugeot e-208 is not just another electric car. It's the French revolution in electric vehicles.
