Skoda Kodiaq Plug-in Hybrid on the Way: Pricing & Features Revealed

Skoda Kodiaq Plug-in Hybrid on the Way: Pricing & Features Revealed

Brand

  • Skoda

The second generation of the Skoda Kodiaq has arrived, bringing a host of exciting upgrades that elevate this popular midsize SUV to new heights. Skoda has listened to consumer demands and incorporated a wider range of powertrains, including the brand's first-ever plug-in hybrid option for the Kodiaq. Let's delve into the details and explore what makes the new Kodiaq such a compelling proposition for families and adventure seekers alike.

Electrification Arrives: The Skoda Kodiaq iV

A significant highlight of the new Kodiaq is the introduction of the Kodiaq iV, Skoda's first foray into the plug-in hybrid segment for this SUV. The Kodiaq iV pairs a 1.5 TSI gasoline engine with an electric motor, generating a combined output of 150 kW (204 horsepower). This potent combination delivers an impressive electric-only range of over 100 kilometers (WLTP cycle), making it perfect for tackling everyday commutes and errands with minimal environmental impact.

When extended journeys beckon, the Kodiaq iV seamlessly transitions to hybrid operation, ensuring you never have to worry about range anxiety. Skoda has equipped the Kodiaq iV with a 25.7 kWh high-voltage battery that supports AC charging at up to 11 kW, making home or workplace charging convenient. Additionally, DC fast-charging stations can replenish the battery even quicker, at rates of up to 50 kW, perfect for those on the go.

Mild-Hybrid Tech Makes Efficiency a Priority

Skoda offers a 1.5 TSI petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology for those seeking a balance between performance and fuel efficiency. This innovative system incorporates a 48-volt battery and a starter-generator that aids the engine during acceleration and recuperates energy during braking. The result is a more responsive driving experience and improved fuel economy. This engine marks the debut of mild-hybrid tech in the Kodiaq, and it's sure to appeal to a wide range of drivers who prioritize both efficiency and a spirited driving experience.

Traditional Powertrains Remain Available

Skoda understands that not everyone is ready to embrace electrification. For those who prefer a traditional powertrain, the new Kodiaq offers a selection of modern and efficient petrol and diesel engines. Two variants of the 2.0 TDI diesel engine are available, producing 150 horsepower (110 kW) and 193 horsepower (142 kW), respectively. The higher-powered diesel comes standard with all-wheel drive, providing additional capability for tackling challenging terrain.

More Space for Passengers and Cargo

The new Skoda Kodiaq boasts a slightly extended length compared to its predecessor, offering even more space for passengers and cargo. This makes the Kodiaq an ideal choice for families with growing needs or those who frequently embark on road trips with lots of gear. Skoda has always been renowned for its practicality, and the new Kodiaq upholds this tradition by providing a versatile and spacious interior.

Safety Features Galore

Skoda has prioritized safety in the new Kodiaq, equipping it with a comprehensive suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). These features include collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. These intelligent systems work together to enhance safety and give drivers greater peace of mind.
