Alpine A110 R Le Mans Limited Edition: A $120,000 Tribute to a Le Mans Legend

Alpine A110 R Le Mans Limited Edition

Alpine has just revealed its latest special edition model, the Alpine A110 R Le Mans Limited Edition, a tribute to the iconic Alpine A110 that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1978. The new model is based on the A110 R, the most powerful and track-focused version of the modern A110, and features exclusive design elements, performance upgrades, and a limited production run of only 100 units. Is this the ultimate Alpine? Let's find out.

What Is the Alpine A110 R Le Mans Limited Edition?

The Alpine A110 R Le Mans Limited Edition is a special edition model that celebrates the centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the world's oldest and most prestigious endurance race. The model is inspired by the Alpine A442 B that won the race in 1978, driven by Didier Pironi and Jean-Pierre Jaussaud.

The new model is based on the A110 R, which is the most powerful and track-focused version of the modern A110. The A110 R has a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 300 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and a rear-wheel drive system. The A110 R can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 161 mph.

The A110 R also has a lightweight aluminum chassis, a sport suspension with adjustable dampers, Brembo brakes, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, a rear spoiler, and a titanium exhaust system. The Alpine A110 R Le Mans weighs only 2,425 lbs, which gives it an excellent power-to-weight ratio and agility.

The A110 R Le Mans Limited Edition adds some exclusive features to the A110 R, such as:

  • A unique livery that mimics the colors and graphics of the Alpine A442 B, with a blue body, yellow stripes, red accents, and white wheels.
  • A numbered plaque on the dashboard that indicates the production number and the year of the Le Mans victory.
  • A carbon-fiber roof with a yellow Alpine logo.
  • A carbon-fiber rear diffuser with a yellow Alpine logo.
  • A carbon-fiber engine cover with a yellow Alpine logo.
  • Black leather and Alcantara interior with yellow stitching and piping.
  • Carbon-fiber bucket seats with yellow Alpine logos and harnesses.
  • An Alcantara steering wheel with yellow stitching and a red center marker.
  • An Alcantara gear lever with yellow stitching.
  • An Alcantara dashboard with yellow stitching and an Alpine logo.
  • An Alcantara door panels with yellow stitching and an Alpine logo.
  • An Alcantara headliner with yellow stitching.

The A110 R Le Mans Limited Edition also comes with some optional features, such as:

  • A carbon-fiber front splitter with a yellow Alpine logo.
  • Carbon-fiber side skirts with yellow Alpine logos.
  • Carbon-fiber side mirrors with yellow Alpine logos.
  • Carbon-fiber door handles with yellow Alpine logos.
  • Carbon-fiber air intakes with yellow Alpine logos.
  • Carbon-fiber wheel arches with yellow Alpine logos.

How Much Does the Alpine A110 R Le Mans Limited Edition Cost?

The Alpine A110 R Le Mans Limited Edition is a very exclusive and expensive model, with only 100 units available worldwide. The model is priced at $120,000, which is about $30,000 more than the regular A110 R. The model is available for pre-order now, and deliveries will start in late 2023.

Is the Alpine A110 R Le Mans Limited Edition Worth It?

The Alpine A110 R Le Mans Limited Edition is a stunning model that pays homage to a racing legend. It combines the performance and handling of the A110 R with the design and heritage of the Alpine A442 B. It is a rare and collectible car that will appeal to any Alpine fan or car enthusiast.

However, the model is also very pricey and limited, which means it will take a lot of work to get one. It is also not very practical or comfortable for everyday use, as it is designed for track driving. It is also not very different from the regular A110 R in terms of performance, as it does not have any significant mechanical changes.

The Alpine A110 R Le Mans is not a car for everyone, but for those who can afford it and appreciate it, it could be the ultimate Alpine. It could be a tribute to a racing legend.

Alpine and Renault are French car brands with a long history of collaboration and partnership, especially in motorsport. Alpine was founded in 1955 by Jean Rédélé, a former Renault dealer and racer who used Renault engines and parts to create lightweight and agile sports cars. Alpine achieved success in various racing events, such as the Monte Carlo Rally and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with the support of Renault. In 1973, Renault acquired a majority stake in Alpine, and the two brands continued working together to develop and produce sports cars and racing cars. In 2021, Renault rebranded its Formula 1 team as Alpine to showcase its performance and innovation under the Alpine name. Alpine is now part of the Renault Group and other brands such as Dacia, Lada, and Mobilize. @via Alpine.
