Jeep Avenger e-Hybrid: The Electric Off-Roader You've Been Waiting For

Jeep Avenger e-Hybrid: The Electric Off-Roader You've Been Waiting For

Jeep is known for making rugged, capable off-road vehicles that tackle any terrain. But what if you want to enjoy the thrill of adventure without sacrificing efficiency and eco-friendliness? Well, Jeep has the answer for you: the Avenger e-Hybrid. This is the first plug-in hybrid model from the American brand, and it combines the best of both worlds: electric power and off-road performance. Here's everything you need to know about this exciting new addition to the Jeep family.

What is the Jeep Avenger e-Hybrid?

The Jeep Avenger e-Hybrid is a compact SUV with a 1.3-liter turbocharged petrol engine and an electric motor to deliver 190 horsepower and 270 Nm of torque. The engine powers the front wheels, while the electric motor drives the rear axle, creating a four-wheel drive system that can handle any challenge. The battery pack has a capacity of 11.4 kWh, which allows the Jeep Avenger e-Hybrid to travel up to 31 miles on electric mode only, according to the WLTP cycle. The combined fuel consumption is rated at 123 mpg, and the CO2 emissions are as low as 50 g/km.

How does the Jeep Avenger e-Hybrid perform?

The Jeep Avenger e-Hybrid is not only efficient but also fun to drive. It can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 7.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 124 mph. The electric motor provides instant torque and smooth acceleration, while the petrol engine adds power and range. The Avenger e-Hybrid also features a six-speed automatic transmission that offers smooth and quick shifts. The driver can choose between three driving modes: Hybrid, Electric, and E-Save. Hybrid mode is the default setting, which optimizes using both power sources. Electric mode allows the Avenger e-Hybrid to run on battery power only, which is ideal for urban driving and zero-emission zones. E-Save mode preserves the battery charge for later use, relying on the petrol engine only.

How does the Jeep Avenger e-Hybrid handle off-road?

The Jeep Avenger e-Hybrid is not just a city car, it's also a capable off-roader. It has a ground clearance of 200 mm and a water fording depth of 230 mm. It also has short overhangs and high approach and departure angles, making navigating obstacles and steep slopes easy. The Avenger e-Hybrid also benefits from the Jeep Active Drive Low system, a four-wheel drive system that can distribute torque between the front and rear axles as needed. The system also features a low-range mode, which increases traction and control on slippery and rough surfaces. The Avenger e-Hybrid also comes with the Selec-Terrain system, allowing the driver to choose between five modes: Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand/Mud, and Rock. Each mode adjusts the throttle response, steering, transmission, and traction control to suit the terrain and driving style.

How does the Jeep Avenger e-Hybrid look and feel?

The Jeep Avenger e-Hybrid has a distinctive and modern design that reflects its electric and off-road nature. It is boxy and muscular, with a seven-slot grille and round LED headlights that give it a familiar Jeep look. It also has a black roof, black wheel arches, and black lower body cladding, contrasting with the body color and adding a touch of sportiness. The Avenger e-Hybrid also features blue accents on the grille, badges, and brake calipers, highlighting its hybrid identity.

The Jeep Avenger e-Hybrid compact SUV has three trim levels: Longitude, Limited, and Trailhawk. The Longitude is the entry-level model, which comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, cloth seats, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a rearview camera, and a host of safety features. The Limited adds 17-inch alloy wheels, leather seats, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a wireless charging pad, a panoramic sunroof, and more safety features. The Trailhawk is the top-of-the-range model, which adds 18-inch alloy wheels, a unique front and rear bumper, red tow hooks, skid plates, all-terrain tires, a Trail Rated badge, and an exclusive Rock mode for the Selec-Terrain system.

How does the Jeep Avenger e-Hybrid compare to its rivals?

The Jeep Avenger e-Hybrid is one of the few plug-in hybrid compact SUVs on the market, and it faces some tough competition from other brands. Here's how it stacks up against some of its main rivals:

As you can see, the Jeep Avenger e-Hybrid is not the most powerful, the fastest, or the most efficient plug-in hybrid SUV on the market. However, it offers a unique combination of electric and off-road capabilities, a distinctive style, and a reasonable price. If you're looking for a plug-in hybrid SUV that can handle the city and the countryside, the Jeep Avenger e-Hybrid might be the one for you.
