Renewing the Credentials On Your Car or Truck

Renewing the Credentials On Your Car or Truck

Every state requires vehicle owners to buy tags and pay taxes every year. Failing to do so could result in you being heavily fined by the county in which you live. If you fall seriously behind on your vehicle taxes, you could have your car or truck seized and sold at a state auction.

Even so, you may not want to wait in line at the local county tax office to renew your vehicle's credentials each year. You can bypass the long line and pay for your tags and taxes by completing the transaction online, at authorized pay stations, or at the king county vehicle registration office today.

Paying for Existing Tags and Taxes

If you have not purchased a new car or truck recently, you will need to renew the tags on the vehicle that you currently own. Every year, you will be required to buy a new tag sticker for your license plate. You also will have to pay that year's taxes that will be based on the appraisal value of the car or truck.

The time of year that you pay the tags and taxes will always be the same. The month that you pay them in will correspond with the first letter of your last name. Knowing this information in advance can let you save up money for the tags and taxes well before you actually have to pay them.

It also lets you beat the rush to the renewal station each year. You can wait until after the rush at the first of the month to pay these fees. You typically have the duration of the month to get the tags and taxes renewed.

New Vehicle Tags and Taxes

If you purchased a new car or truck, you will have to pay for the rest of the year's tags and taxes on it as well as buy a new license plate. Registering your vehicle for the first time can be more expensive than renewing the tags and taxes. You can get an estimate by visiting the office's website today.
