Shorter, Smarter, More Spacious

Peugeot is expanding the 5008 SUV lineup. The 2025 Peugeot 5008 5-seater joins the range, giving customers more space without adding cost. It shares its base price of €43,860 (approx. $47,450 USD) with the existing 7-seater.

This update responds to a clear use-case shift. Families, delivery drivers, and fleet operators have asked for more cargo capacity. Peugeot answered by removing the third row and repurposing that space.

The result? More room and no price hike.

Key Specs: 5-Seater vs. 7-Seater Peugeot 5008

Spec5-Seater7-Seater
Starting Price€43,860 (~$47,450)€43,860 (~$47,450)
Powertrain (Hybrid)48V Hybrid, 145 hp48V Hybrid, 145 hp
Electric Variant (Dual Motor)325 hp AWD325 hp AWD
Max Cargo (Hybrid)994 liters / 2,310 liters916 liters / 2,232 liters

CO₂ Emissions (Hybrid)127–133 g/km (Class D.1)Same
Energy Use (EV AWD)18.6–18.8 kWh/100 kmSame

This makes the 5-seater the better option for cargo-focused buyers.

Why Peugeot Built This Variant

Peugeot recognizes the shift in how people use SUVs. Not every buyer needs seven seats. The third row often stays folded, eating into cargo space without adding real utility.

The 2025 Peugeot 5008 5-seater removes those seats entirely. In return, it delivers:

  • Up to 78 liters more cargo space behind the second row (Hybrid variant).
  • More flat cargo area for long objects or large items.
  • Same powertrains, safety tech, and interior options as the 7-seater.

It’s an efficiency upgrade, not a downgrade.

Powertrain and Electrification

Peugeot keeps the 5008 lineup consistent across variants.

Hybrid Powertrain

  • 48V mild-hybrid system.
  • Combined output: 145 hp (107 kW).
  • Combined fuel use: 5.6–5.9 L/100 km (about 40–42 mpg).
  • CO₂ output: 127–133 g/km, WLTP rated.

Dual-Motor Electric Option

  • 325 hp dual-motor AWD layout.
  • CO₂-free driving.
  • Energy consumption: 18.6–18.8 kWh/100 km.
  • CO₂ class A.1.

This gives both powertrain options strong coverage of European emissions and efficiency regulations.

More Room to Haul

The biggest reason to pick the 5-seater? Cargo volume.

Let’s look at the capacity delta:

  • Hybrid 5-seater: 994 L (2nd row up), 2,310 L (2nd row folded)
  • Hybrid 7-seater: 916 L, 2,232 L
  • EV 5-seater: 940 L, 2,256 L

The extra cargo becomes noticeable on daily hauls. Luggage, groceries, tools, bikes—it all fits better.

And Peugeot did this without modifying the body dimensions or adding weight. The savings come from subtracting hardware.

Cabin and Infotainment

The Peugeot Panorama i-Cockpit remains a strong selling point.

  • 21-inch curved panoramic HD display (standard on GT, optional on Allure)
  • Digital instrumentation and central infotainment merged into one unit
  • All driving data and multimedia in the driver’s natural field of vision

It’s ergonomic. Drivers see everything they need without head movement. The system also integrates voice controls and navigation.

Safety Tech and Driver Assistance

Buyers don’t lose safety features with the 5-seat model.

Standard and optional systems include:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go
  • Lane Keep Assist
  • Semi-automated lane change assist (GT trim)
  • Predictive speed detection

Every tech option available on the 7-seater carries over.

Electric Aftercare: PEUGEOT CARE²

All fully electric 5008 models benefit from PEUGEOT CARE², the brand’s post-sale protection program.

It includes:

  • 8-year or 160,000 km protection on electric drivetrain
  • Coverage on motor, battery, and charging hardware
  • Activation with routine service at an authorized partner

This approach removes some of the long-term ownership risk. It builds confidence among EV shoppers.

Market Impact and Customer Target

The new 5-seater targets buyers who:

  • Need SUV utility, not passenger capacity
  • Prioritize cargo and flexibility
  • Want PEUGEOT tech and design without paying more

Fleet managers, logistics firms, and retail operators may view the 5-seater as the more efficient investment.

Private buyers who no longer need seven seats—due to kids growing up, downsizing, or simply preferring more cargo—get a practical solution.

By offering the 5-seater at identical pricing, Peugeot retains flexibility in production and inventory while expanding its market appeal.

Final Take: A Strategic Move

The 2025 Peugeot 5008 5-seater doesn’t introduce radical changes. It simplifies. It repackages space.

  • No price increase
  • Same powertrains
  • Bigger cargo capacity
  • Same tech and safety features

This is incremental optimization, the kind that matters in crowded SUV segments.

Buyers want options. Peugeot now offers a more space-efficient one—without a premium.
