Renault Megane E-Tech Electric Esprit Alpine: Sporty Updates and Advanced Charging

Renault Megane E-Tech Electric Esprit Alpine

Brand

  • Renault

Renault has upgraded the Megane E-Tech Electric, making it sportier and more practical than before. The new Esprit Alpine trim introduces a bold design, while the latest One Pedal driving system enhances efficiency and control. The bidirectional charging feature allows the vehicle to power external devices, adding more flexibility for drivers.

With Plug & Charge compatibility, refueling at public stations is now seamless, eliminating the need for cards or apps. Combined with a 220 horsepower motor and up to 291 miles of range, these updates make the Megane E-Tech Electric a strong contender in the growing EV market.

Esprit Alpine Trim: Sporty Design Enhancements

The new Esprit Alpine trim adds a dynamic flair to the Megane E-Tech Electric.

Exterior Features

  • Exclusive Matte Shadow Grey paintwork provides a distinctive appearance.
  • Front and rear bumpers with Satin Slate Grey F1-style stripes enhance the sporty aesthetic.
  • 20-inch Ice Black alloy wheels contribute to a robust stance.
  • Gloss Black window surrounds and an Esprit Alpine badge on the front left wing** emphasize the trim’s unique identity.

Interior Features

  • Black embossed fabric seats with blue stitching, made from recycled materials like plastic bottles and seat belts.
  • Blue, white, and red badges reflecting Renault’s French heritage.
  • Black TEP fabric on the dashboard, armrests, and center console, all accented with blue stitching.
  • Black and blue cockpit trim maintaining the sporty theme.

One Pedal Driving: Enhanced Regenerative Braking

Renault has introduced the One Pedal driving feature in the Megane E-Tech Electric. This system allows drivers to control acceleration and deceleration using only the accelerator pedal.

Benefits

  • Reduced brake pad wear, leading to lower maintenance costs.
  • Improved energy regeneration, extending the vehicle’s range.
  • Smoother driving experience, particularly in urban environments.

This feature is available on models equipped with regenerative braking and steering-wheel paddles. It will also be included in future Renault models like the R5 and Renault Scenic E-Tech Electric and can be retrofitted to Megane E-Tech Electric vehicles built after March 2024.

Bidirectional Charging: Powering External Devices

All Megane E-Tech Electric models now come standard with an 11 kW AC bidirectional charger, with an optional 22 kW AC charger available.

Key Features

  • Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, allowing the car to power external devices such as coffee machines, vacuum cleaners, or charge electric scooters.
  • In France, with a Mobilize Powerbox Verso charging stand and a Mobilize electricity contract, the vehicle can feed energy back into the grid, potentially reducing electricity bills.

Plug & Charge: Simplified Charging Process

The Megane E-Tech Electric now supports the Plug & Charge feature, streamlining the charging process.

How It Works

  • At compatible DC charging stations, drivers can simply plug in their vehicle, and the charging process will start automatically without the need for membership or payment cards.
  • Billing is handled through the My Renault app, providing a seamless experience.
  • This feature will soon be part of the Mobilize Charge Pass, granting access to over 800,000 public charging points across 25 European countries.

Performance and Range

The Renault Megane E-Tech Electric is built on the CMF-EV platform and offers:

  • A 220 horsepower electric motor, delivering robust performance.
  • A 60 kWh battery, providing a range of up to 468 km (291 miles) WLTP, depending on driving conditions.

Pricing

The updated Renault Megane E-Tech Electric lineup includes three trims: Techno, Esprit Alpine, and Iconic.

  • Techno: Starting at $43,800.
  • Renault Megane E-Tech Electric Esprit Alpine: Starting at $46,000.
  • Iconic: Starting at $47,700.

These prices reflect a reduction compared to previous models, making the Megane E-Tech Electric a more competitive option in the EV market.
