Skoda Celebrates Its 20th Year of Sponsoring the Tour de France

If you are a cycling fan, the Tour de France is the most prestigious and challenging bike race in the world. Every year, it attracts millions of viewers and fans, who follow the riders as they compete across different stages and terrains, from flat roads to steep mountains.

But did you know that Škoda, the Czech automobile manufacturer, has been the main sponsor of the Tour de France for 20 years? Since 2003, Škoda has been providing hundreds of cars to support the race organizers, teams, media and officials. Škoda is also the official partner of the green jersey, which is awarded to the best sprinter in the race.

To celebrate this milestone, Škoda has launched some special campaign models and accessory packs for its customers, who can enjoy extra equipment worth up to $4,547 at no additional cost. These offers are only available for a limited time, so don't miss this opportunity to get your hands on a Škoda car with Tour de France flair.

The History of Škoda and the Tour de France

Škoda has a long and rich history in the automotive industry, dating back to 1895, when it started as a bicycle manufacturer. The company was founded by two Czech entrepreneurs, Václav Laurin and Václav Klement, who later expanded their business to motorcycles and cars.

Škoda became part of the Volkswagen Group in 2000, and since then, it has grown into one of the most successful and innovative car brands in Europe and beyond. Škoda is known for its smart design, reliable performance, spacious interiors, and excellent value for money.

Škoda's involvement in the Tour de France began in 2003 when it became the race's main sponsor and official car partner. Since then, Škoda has supplied more than 5,000 vehicles to the Tour de France, covering more than 40 million kilometers. Škoda cars are used for various purposes during the race, such as transporting VIP guests, carrying medical staff and equipment, providing live broadcasting and timing services, and escorting the riders.

Škoda also sponsors other major cycling events around the world, such as the Giro d'Italia, the Vuelta a España, and the UCI World Championships. Škoda supports cycling not only as a sport but also as a lifestyle and a sustainable mode of transportation. Škoda believes that cycling is a great way to enjoy nature, stay healthy, and have fun.

The Campaign Models: Kamiq Tour de France and Scala Tour de France

To mark its 20th anniversary as the main sponsor of the Tour de France, Škoda has prepared some special campaign models for its customers: the Kamiq Tour de France and the Scala Tour de France. These models are based on two of Škoda's most popular cars: the Skoda Kamiq SUV and the Skoda Scala hatchback.

The Kamiq Tour de France and the Scala Tour de France come with extra equipment at no additional cost. This includes:

  • 2-zone Climatronic air conditioning
  • Dynamic cruise control
  • Digital Cockpit
  • Travel Assist
  • 8" Bolero infotainment with Apple CarPlay
  • Rear parking sensor
  • Sunset - dark-tinted rear windows
  • 16" Sargas alloy wheels (only for Scala)

The equipment has a value of $4,547 for the Skoda Kamiq Tour de France and $3,960 for the Skoda Scala Tour de France. The prices start at $38,139 for a Skoda Kamiq Tour de France 1.0 TSI 95 hp and $35,204 for a Skoda Scala Tour de France 1.0 TSI 95 hp.

These campaign models offer great features that enhance your driving comfort, safety, and entertainment. For example:

  • The Climatronic air conditioning allows you to set different temperatures for the driver and passenger zones.
  • The dynamic cruise control automatically adjusts your speed according to the traffic situation.
  • The Digital Cockpit displays all the important information on a high-resolution screen behind the steering wheel.
  • The Travel Assist can automatically stop and start the car, keep it in the lane and follow other cars in traffic.
  • The Bolero infotainment system lets you connect your smartphone via Apple CarPlay and access your apps, music, and navigation on an 8-inch touchscreen.
  • The rear parking sensor helps you park safely and easily by alerting you of any obstacles behind your car.
  • The Sunset windows reduce the glare and heat from the sun and give your car a sporty look.
  • The Sargas alloy wheels add a touch of elegance and style to your car.

The Accessory Packs: Large and Small Tour de France Packs

In addition to the campaign models, Škoda also offers some accessory packs for the Skoda Kamiq and Skoda Scala. These packs include useful items that make your driving experience more enjoyable and convenient. Depending on your needs and preferences, you can choose between a large and a small Tour de France accessory pack.

The large Tour de France accessory pack contains the following:

  • A set of rubber mats
  • A boot mat
  • A comfort package
  • A Prestige mat set
  • Roof bars
  • A bag for the roof bars

The large Tour de France accessory pack costs $688 and has a value of $1,099. This pack is ideal for those who like to travel with a lot of luggage or equipment, as it provides extra protection and storage space for your car.

The small Tour de France accessory pack contains the following:

  • A set of rubber mats
  • A boot mat
  • A comfort package

The small Tour de France accessory pack costs $277 for the Skoda Scala and $292 for the Skoda Kamiq. This pack is perfect for those who want to keep their car clean and comfortable, as it prevents dirt and spills from damaging your car's interior.

You do not need to purchase a campaign model to access the accessory packs. They are available for everyone who owns a Kamiq or Scala, regardless of the model year or version.
