Audi A6 Allroad E-Hybrid Gives The Estate A Sharper Job
Audi has pushed the fifth-generation A6 Allroad back into the premium wagon fight with a first-ever plug-in hybrid version, standard quattro all-wheel drive, and serious chassis hardware. The Audi A6 Allroad plug-in hybrid pairs a 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine with an electric motor for 270 kW, 367 PS, and 500 Nm.
That puts it in a strange, useful place. It has SUV-style clearance logic, estate-car load space, and a WLTP electric range of up to 95 km, or about 59 miles. In addition, it keeps the lower roofline and long-distance stability that still make a large estate feel cleaner and calmer than a tall crossover at motorway speed.
Audi A6 Allroad Dimensions And Chassis Hardware
The new Audi A6 Allroad measures 5,016 mm long, 1,986 mm wide, or 2,099 mm including mirrors, and 1,479 to 1,508 mm high. In inches, that means roughly 197.5 in long, 78.2 in wide, 82.6 in including mirrors, and 58.2 to 59.4 in high.
Specifically, Audi widened the body by 111 mm compared with the A6 Avant and raised ground clearance by 34 mm. The standard adaptive air suspension adds a 55 mm adjustment range, while offroad and offroad+ modes add another 15 mm above the normal setting. The lift function raises the body by 20 mm at speeds up to 35 km/h.
| Chassis data | Audi A6 Allroad figure | Buyer impact |
|---|---|---|
| Length | 5,016 mm / 197.5 in | Large executive estate footprint |
| Width | 1,986 mm / 78.2 in | Wider stance than A6 Avant |
| Width with mirrors | 2,099 mm / 82.6 in | Check narrow garages |
| Wheelbase | 2.93 m / 115.4 in | Stable high-speed feel |
| Ground clearance gain | 34 mm / 1.34 in | Useful on tracks and snow |
| Air suspension travel | 55 mm / 2.17 in | Road comfort plus rough-road height |
| Rear steering | Up to 5 degrees opposite, 2 degrees same | Tighter parking, steadier fast bends |
| Wheels | 19 to 21 inches | Comfort or grip bias |
Why The Air Suspension Matters
Looking at the data, Audi did not simply bolt plastic arches onto an A6 Avant. The adaptive air suspension changes ride height and damper behaviour, while the offroad+ mode lets the traction control system allow more wheel slip on gravel, sand, or snow.
By comparison, many SUVs depend on height alone. The Audi A6 Allroad uses a lower estate base and adds height only when the road surface asks for it. Consequently, it can lower by 20 mm in dynamic mode or at speeds above 120 km/h to cut drag and sharpen stability.
Audi has not published approach, breakover, or departure angles for the reveal. Treat this as a fast rough-road estate with real clearance hardware, not a rock-crawling SUV.
Audi A6 Allroad Plug-In Hybrid Specs
The A6 Allroad e-hybrid quattro uses a 25.9 kWh gross battery, with 20.7 kWh usable capacity. It charges at up to 11 kW AC and needs about two and a half hours for a full charge. That rate fits home wallboxes and workplace charging better than public rapid stops, since Audi did not add DC fast charging.
| Powertrain | Output | Torque | 0-100 km/h | Top speed | EV range | Towing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A6 Allroad e-hybrid quattro | 270 kW / 367 PS | 500 Nm | 5.5 sec | 250 km/h | Up to 95 km WLTP | 2,000 kg |
| A6 Allroad 3.0 V6 TDI quattro | 220 kW / 299 PS | 580 Nm | 5.4 sec | 250 km/h | None | 2,500 kg |
The diesel still has a job. It uses a 3.0-litre V6 TDI with MHEV plus, a belt alternator starter, a powertrain generator, and an electric-powered compressor. From an expert perspective, that compressor makes the diesel more responsive because it builds boost before exhaust gas flow can spin the turbo hard enough.
