The new Astra GSe plug-in hybrid is the future of Opel

Opel Astra GSe plug-in hybrid

The GSe has returned! Initial reports indicated that Opel would reinstate the GSe brand as a home for sporty electric vehicles. The new Opel Astra GSe and the new Opel Astra Sports Tourer GSe are the first GSe models to be unveiled.

Launching our new dynamic designation with the new Astra GSe and Astra Sports Tourer GSe is keeping with Opel's aim to become a fully electrified brand by 2028.

The new Opel Astra GSe and Astra Sports Tourer GSe have a powertrain that generates 165 kW/225 hp and 360 Nm of torque (1.1-1.2 l/100 km, CO2 emissions of 25-26 g/km in mixed driving). These numbers make them the best in their class in acceleration from a stop, maximum speed, and starting distance.

Furthermore, the newcomers will establish a new standard for enjoyable driving. The GSe versions are even more sporty and precise than their Astra counterparts, with steering, suspension, and brakes that react instantly and precisely to the driver's inputs. The new GSe vehicles will sit 10 mm lower to the ground than their Astra cousins, thanks to a specially engineered chassis.

Unique to the GSe and further extending Opel's priority on comfort, the GSe models take the striking Opel Astra design and augment it with GSe-specific design elements. The new Opel Astra GSe includes 18-inch wheels based on the Opel Manta GSe concept, GSe insignia, and specially built front seats (AGR approved).

With the new Astra GSe and Astra Sports Tourer GSe, Opel is showing its commitment to electrification by changing the GSe classification from "Grand Sport Einspritzung" to "Grand Sport electric."
