Jeep Avenger 4xe Built in Tychy: Hybrid All-Wheel Drive SUV Enters Production

Stellantis has launched production of the new Jeep Avenger 4xe at its Tychy plant in Poland, marking a significant step in its hybrid manufacturing plans across Europe.

The Jeep Avenger 4xe is the brand’s first B-segment hybrid SUV with all-wheel drive. Built on the CMP platform, this hybrid sits at the core of Jeep’s European strategy. Tychy will serve as the manufacturing base for this compact SUV, as Stellantis pushes deeper into electrified mobility.

Why the Jeep Avenger 4xe Matters

Jeep’s move to produce the Jeep Avenger 4xe in Europe directly addresses:

  • EU emissions regulations
  • Rising demand for compact SUVs
  • The need for electrified all-wheel-drive capability

This model combines internal combustion with twin electric motors to deliver power, efficiency, and improved traction. It reflects Stellantis' approach to scalable hybrid tech within mass-market segments.

Key Features of the Jeep Avenger 4xe

The new Jeep Avenger 4xe offers a balance of power, efficiency, and off-road ability. Here are the essentials:

  • The hybrid system includes a 48V mild-hybrid petrol engine.
  • Two electric motors (one on each axle) support all-wheel-drive functionality.
  • The design keeps emissions low while preserving off-road capability.

Tychy Plant: Why Stellantis Chose This Factory

The Tychy plant has manufactured over 12.5 million vehicles since 1975. It now serves as a core part of Stellantis' electric and hybrid production network in Europe.

Why Tychy?

  • Proven track record of volume production
  • Close to European supply chains
  • Skilled workforce with experience in advanced powertrain systems
  • Upgraded assembly lines for multi-energy platforms (ICE, hybrid, and EV)

Stellantis has invested heavily in modernizing the plant to support electrified vehicles. It currently produces:

  • Fiat 600e
  • Jeep Avenger EV
  • Jeep Avenger 4xe (new)
  • Alfa Romeo Junior (upcoming)

The CMP platform’s flexibility lets Stellantis produce electric, hybrid, and combustion models on the same line.

Jeep’s 4xe Strategy in Europe

4xe is Jeep’s signature electrification brand, originally introduced with the Renegade and Jeep Compass plug-in hybrids, and later the Wrangler 4xe.

The Avenger 4xe marks Jeep's push into more accessible hybrid vehicles in urban markets, where full EVs may not be viable for all drivers yet.

Key Points in the 4xe Expansion:

  1. Jeep wants 100% of its European sales to be electric by 2030.
  2. The Avenger 4xe gives Jeep a hybrid option under $30,000, expanding its reach.
  3. Jeep continues to support off-road capability with electrification.

Environmental and Regulatory Pressures Driving Change

The European Union’s 2035 ICE ban and strict CO₂ fleet limits are forcing brands to shift production strategies.

Stellantis’ solution is multi-energy flexibility. That means:

  • Building cars that meet regulatory compliance
  • Offering multiple powertrain options on shared platforms
  • Reducing R&D and assembly costs across the group’s 14 brands

The Avenger 4xe fits this model perfectly. It allows Stellantis to sell a familiar Jeep format in a low-emissions hybrid version, made cost-efficiently in Poland.

What Sets the Jeep Avenger 4xe Apart?

While most B-segment SUVs offer front-wheel-drive only, the Avenger 4xe uses electric rear axle drive for true AWD. It handles slippery or uneven terrain far better than standard hybrid crossovers.

Competitive Advantages:

  • True all-wheel drive via twin e-motors
  • Dual-clutch transmission for efficiency and quick gear changes
  • Off-road settings built into the driving modes
  • Lower price than most plug-in hybrids

The Jeep badge carries weight among outdoor and off-road buyers. This hybrid delivers real capability—without needing a full EV or plugin.

Market Opportunity and Pricing

Jeep aims to keep the Avenger 4xe competitively priced, targeting a base MSRP around $29,500. This places it in line with other mainstream compact hybrids.

Target Audience:

  • City drivers needing better traction in winter
  • First-time hybrid buyers
  • Young families seeking space and safety
  • Outdoor enthusiasts looking for capability without high fuel costs

The Avenger 4xe lowers the barrier to hybrid SUV ownership while retaining Jeep’s image and design language.

Production Volume and Scale

Stellantis has not disclosed exact volumes, but Tychy has capacity for up to 250,000 vehicles per year. With demand expected across Europe, Jeep will likely allocate a significant portion to the 4xe model.

Output Planning:

  • Full hybrid lineup expected by 2026
  • Scaling production based on regional demand
  • Allocations prioritized for hybrid-friendly markets (France, Italy, Germany)

Tychy's location near the EU supply base keeps logistics cost low, aiding profitability on lower-margin hybrids.

Jeep’s Electrification Roadmap

Jeep has committed to full electrification in Europe by 2030.

The Avenger 4xe bridges the gap between today’s combustion offerings and the full EV lineup in development.

Future plans include:

  • More 4xe hybrid variants in compact and midsize SUV segments
  • Expanded CMP-based production in other European plants
  • Integration with Stellantis’ battery and software ecosystems

Summary: Jeep Avenger 4xe is a Strategic Hybrid Play

The start of Jeep Avenger 4xe production in Tychy reflects a clear shift in Stellantis’ European product strategy.

Key takeaways:

  • Jeep now offers a compact hybrid SUV with true AWD.
  • Production at Tychy supports cost efficiency and EU compliance.
  • Stellantis' CMP platform enables hybrid scale at lower costs.
  • The 4xe badge is expanding from plug-in to full hybrid offerings.

For Stellantis, the Avenger 4xe is more than just another model—it’s a scalable hybrid solution ready for Europe’s mass market.
