Since the 1980s, Peugeot has often produced concept cars to present its vision of the future. Designers have sometimes had carte blanche to create futuristic and spectacular models. Other models have foretold the future of the brand in a more realistic way.
We have chosen the most impressive concept cars, from the Peugeot SR1 from 2010 to the Peugeot Sport 508 Engineered from 2019. At the beginning of the creation of a concept car, designers look for inspiration around them in order to identify the expectations and needs of the public.
At Peugeot, each concept car is the result of a competition between designers. The manufacturer selects the most convincing ideas and digital models then a scale model is produced. The most convincing project is then selected. A more precise digital model is designed with work on the exterior as well as inside the vehicle. The deadlines must be respected for the concept car to be present at a major international exhibition.

Gérard Welter, design director of Peugeot from 1998 to 2007, has played a major role in recent decades. Best known for his work on the Peugeot 205, he worked on the bodywork of the Peugeot Quasar concept. Today, Peugeot's styling manager is Gilles Vidal, in office since 2011.
