Toyota GR Supra MkV Final Edition Marks the End of an Era

Toyota GR Supra MkV Final Edition

Brand

  • Toyota

Toyota will retire the GR Supra MkV after the 2026 model year. To close the chapter, it has created the GR Supra MkV Final Edition, a model that reflects the lessons learned from track racing and customer feedback. This version is more than a farewell trim. It is Toyota’s way of refining the Supra one last time, with changes to braking, suspension, aerodynamics, and interior features that sharpen its performance while keeping its usability intact.

A Sports Car Rooted in Racing

Toyota relaunched the Supra in 2019 after a 17-year break. Since then, the MkV Supra has competed in racing series from Formula Drift to the Nürburgring 24 Hours. Toyota’s GAZOO Racing engineers applied the same methods used for endurance racing to develop the road car. Each update since 2019 followed the company’s principle of kaizen—continuous improvement.

The Final Edition takes that mindset to its conclusion. It integrates refinements in areas drivers care about most: cornering stability, braking power, and steering precision.

Powertrain and Performance

Every GR Supra uses the same 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder turbocharged engine, producing:

  • 382 horsepower
  • 368 lb-ft torque
  • 0–60 mph in 3.9 seconds (automatic)
  • 0–60 mph in 4.2 seconds (manual)

Transmission choices include an 8-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual with Intelligent Manual Transmission software. The manual includes rev-matching for smoother downshifts.

Drive modes—Normal, Sport, and Individual—allow the driver to adjust throttle response, suspension damping, and steering settings. An Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) system continuously adapts shock absorber response to changing road conditions.

Engineering Updates in the Final Edition

Toyota’s last iteration of the MkV Supra introduces mechanical updates aimed at sharper performance:

  • Brakes: Larger Brembo discs increase stopping power.
  • Suspension: Revised shock absorbers, a stronger front stabilizer, and improved bushings boost stability.
  • Chassis: Strengthened mounts and a new underbody brace improve rigidity.
  • Aerodynamics: A carbon fiber ducktail spoiler, wheel arch flaps, and revised front spats optimize downforce.
  • Steering: Updated electronic power steering tuning provides better feedback.

These refinements give the Final Edition more precision through corners and better stability at higher speeds.

Styling and Interior Details

Toyota differentiated the Final Edition with small but distinct styling elements:

  • 19-inch matte black wheels
  • Carbon fiber ducktail spoiler
  • Carbon fiber mirror caps
  • Unique Alcantara-trimmed driver’s seat with GR embroidery
  • Red interior accents and red seatbelts

Owners also receive extras, including a GR cupholder cover and a camo-pattern car cover.

GT4 Style Pack Option

Inspired by the Supra GT4 EVO2 race car, Toyota offers a GT4 style pack. Available in Fall 2025, it adds:

  • Matte carbon fiber ducktail spoiler
  • Matte-black Supra emblem
  • GT4-inspired graphics
  • Exclusive matte finishes: Burnout and Undercover (extra-cost colors)

Trim Lineup and Pricing

The Final Edition joins the 3.0 and 3.0 Premium trims. Pricing details have not been released, but expect costs to exceed the current GR Supra 3.0 Premium, which averages around $57,000 USD. With the added carbon fiber features and limited production status, the Final Edition will likely surpass $60,000 USD.

Outlook: Supra’s Future After 2026

The Supra name will not disappear, but Toyota has not announced its successor. Market pressure suggests a future electrified Supra, possibly hybrid or fully electric. Toyota has already applied hybrid systems to performance cars like the GR010 Hypercar in endurance racing and GR H2 Racing Concept. That makes an electrified Supra plausible within the next product cycle.

Conclusion

The Toyota GR Supra MkV Final Edition signals the end of a six-year production run. Toyota has taken one last opportunity to fine-tune the car’s suspension, braking, and aerodynamics. For enthusiasts, this is both a collector’s opportunity and a reminder of the Supra’s link to racing. For Toyota, it clears the stage for the next generation, which may adopt electrification to stay relevant in a market shifting toward sustainable performance.
