Ford's new, all-electric transport van is now starting to be rolled out on European roads in a test program involving several corporate businesses in different segments. The tests cover the entire range of Ford E-Transit and ensure that the car is optimized for all conditions before it is launched in the spring of 2022.

Ford's all-electric E-Transit takes European roads when tests begin with a selection of major corporate customers before sales in the spring of 2022.

The tests start with ten E-Transit prototypes that are tested in several intensive, real-world scenarios within postal, municipal, and service companies, "last-mile," and food delivery within Germany, Norway, and the United Kingdom. The pilot companies include AWB waste management, Cologne's municipal fleet, DHL Express in the United Kingdom, DPD, Posten Norge, Ocado, and Recover Nordic.

The test fleet has a complete range of Ford E-Transit variants, including vans, double cabins, and chassis, with a total weight of 3.5 to 4.25 tonnes.

"We want to show that helping customers reduce their environmental impact can go hand in hand with improving their productivity," said Dave Petts, Ford of Europe's Electrified Transportation Marketing Manager. Real-world mileage in customers' hands allows Ford to demonstrate the commercial benefits of E-Transit electric van while providing critical feedback on usage patterns and billing behavior, allowing Ford to improve the operating experience. In addition, Ford believes in treating its clients like family, and this program exemplifies how important these relationships are to them.

The tests mark the latest phase in Ford's development of the new E-Transit, which comes directly after the extensive testing program conducted at Ford's facilities. The test companies will take care of the E-Transit prototypes for six- or 12-month periods.

The new Ford E-Transit has been carefully designed to enable a simple superstructure with the same flexibility as developed for existing Transit models. A selection of the test fleet has been fitted with special constructions to show the versatility of the E-Transit platform. Some examples of the systems are:

• Cooling vehicle for food delivery, powered by 2.3 kW ProPower Onboard system

• Tipper for waste management

• Courier car for so-called "Last-mile delivery" with passage to cargo space and air suspension at the rear

In 2020, Ford achieved its sixth year in a row as a leading player in the sale of transport vehicles in Europe. The trend has continued until 2021, when Ford retains its position as the region's best-selling truck brand during the six months of this year.

The new Ford E-Transit will be launched in the spring of 2022, and interest in the model is already high. Ford is today Europe's first-largest brand in transport vehicles, and the Ford E-Transit electric van will play a significant role in the company's product range.

In Europe, the demand for electrified alternatives in the transportation car industry is growing rapidly. When Ford introduced the Transit Custom PHEV plug-in hybrid, it realized this. Ford's ability to sell a completely electric version of its largest transport van, the Transit, is a significant step forward in the company's efforts to electrify its transportation van business. @via Ford.
