Renault 4 Roland-Garros EV Brings Style and 409 km Range

  • Renault

Renault has given the Renault 4 Roland-Garros E-Tech electric a sharper identity, and this one lands with better logic than most event-tied special editions. The new show car makes its public debut around Roland-Garros 2026, but Renault did not stop at badges and themed trim. It tied the car's design, materials, roof layout, and cabin detailing directly to the French Open's visual language.

Looking at the data, Renault has also used this show car to signal where the broader Renault 4 E-Tech electric range is heading. The formula stays intact: compact footprint, useful cabin, higher-than-hatchback ride height, and a lifestyle-first electric package. In addition, Renault has confirmed that the production Renault 4 Roland-Garros will arrive in autumn 2026, so this show car works as a near-production preview rather than a fantasy exercise.

Why This Renault 4 Roland-Garros Actually Works

Many special editions chase attention with stickers and loud paint. Renault took a cleaner route. The Glacier White body pairs with black roof arches and pillars, silver trim on the front wings, terracotta inserts on the bumpers, and 18-inch black diamond-cut wheels with a smoked finish and clay-toned centre caps.

That colour strategy does the heavy lifting. White references tennis apparel, terracotta points straight to clay courts, and the darker roof treatment visually lowers the upper body. Consequently, the car looks more planted and more deliberate than a standard trim pack usually does.

Exterior details that matter

Front wing trimRoland-Garros insigniaKeeps the special-edition theme subtle

From an expert perspective, the most persuasive exterior feature is the electric Plein Sud canvas roof. Renault says it opens up to 92 cm long and 80 cm wide, which translates to roughly 36.2 inches by 31.5 inches. That is a serious opening. It will change cabin light, perceived space, and low-speed summer usability in a way a panoramic glass panel never can.

The Cabin Pushes the Theme Harder

Inside, Renault avoided cheap gimmicks. The light grey recycled upholstery, blue textile sections, satin grey dashboard finish, and clay-coloured charging pad build a strong material story. Specifically, Renault wants the cabin to feel like premium technical sportswear rather than a standard B-segment crossover interior with tennis logos added at the last minute.

The seatbacks carry embossed Roland-Garros branding, the shifter tip takes inspiration from a tennis racket grip, and the door sills reference Paris and the stadium's design cues. That gives the interior a coherent identity, which sounds simple but rarely happens in branded editions.

By comparison, many compact EVs still force buyers to choose between style and usefulness. The Renault 4 E-Tech electric tries to serve both. A 420-litre boot, 40/60 split rear bench, and more than 2.20 metres of extra load length with the seats folded give it real weekend credibility. That matters because the Renault 4 badge carries a practical legacy, and this new car has to back up the nostalgia with usable packaging.

The Underlying EV Package Still Does the Real Work

The tennis theme grabs attention, but the platform facts will decide whether this car sells. Renault states that the broader Renault 4 E-Tech electric range offers up to 150 hp, up to 409 km of WLTP range with the 52 kWh battery, and a second 40 kWh option rated up to 308 km. The Roland-Garros special series will follow that same battery logic.

That gives Renault a clear two-lane strategy:

  • 40 kWh battery for urban and suburban buyers who want lower entry cost
  • 52 kWh battery for longer mixed-use driving and stronger day-to-day flexibility
  • Dual-screen cockpit and Google-based software for buyers who expect native connected tech
  • 18.1 cm ground clearance for rougher streets, kerbs, tracks, and soft-road use

Looking at the data, the Renault 4 sits in a useful position. It measures 4.14 metres long, so it stays compact enough for European cities while still offering crossover-style practicality. That footprint gives Renault an advantage. It can pitch the car as more adventurous than a supermini and easier to live with than a larger electric SUV.

What Buyers Should Watch Before Orders Open

The design story looks strong. The battery choices make sense. The packaging also checks out. Still, buyers should wait for three things before making the final call.

  1. Final pricing
  2. Charging speed figures for each battery
  3. Exact trim differences between Roland-Garros and Roland-Garros Plein Sud

Renault has already said orders for the special series open toward the end of 2026, with prices still to come. That keeps one big variable on the table. If Renault prices this car too close to larger EVs, the special-edition polish will not save it.

Pro-Tips for Potential Buyers

  • Pick the 52 kWh version if you plan regular motorway or regional trips.
  • Pick the Plein Sud roof if you want the strongest visual difference from the standard Renault 4.
  • Check real boot access and rear-seat comfort before ordering, not just the litre figure.
  • Watch tyre size and wheel options because 18-inch wheels can change ride comfort and replacement costs.

Should buyers wait for the Renault 4 Roland-Garros?

Yes, if you want a compact electric crossover with more character than the average mainstream EV and you value design details that actually connect to the product. The Renault 4 Roland-Garros E-Tech electric looks sharper than a routine badge job, and the base Renault 4 E-Tech electric already gives it the right ingredients: useful range, practical packaging, elevated ground clearance, and modern in-car tech.

Consequently, this debut matters for more than tournament publicity. It shows Renault knows the new R4 needs style, but it also needs substance. So far, this one appears to bring both.
