The new iX3

The BMW iX3 launches BMW’s Neue Klasse era. It sets the template for future models and targets long-distance driving with faster charging and improved hardware and software.

Key takeaways

  • Range: up to 805 km WLTP on the iX3 50 xDrive.
  • Charging: 400 kW DC peak. 10–80% in 21 minutes. About 372 km in 10 minutes.
  • Power: 469 hp, 0–100 km/h in 4.9 s, AWD.
  • Battery: 108.7 kWh usable, 800V system, cylindrical cells.
  • Production: starts in Debrecen, Hungary, from late October 2025.
  • Sales: Europe spring 2026; U.S. summer 2026.
  • Starting price in Europe: $80,700 (approx.).

What BMW changed under the skin

BMW uses its sixth-gen eDrive hardware with 800V architecture and new battery cells for higher efficiency and faster charging.

Two motors power the iX3 50 xDrive. Output reaches 345 kW / 469 hp and 475 lb-ft. It hits 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and tops out at 210 km/h.

The battery integrates into the body for weight savings. Usable capacity is 108.7 kWh, and WLTP consumption ranges from 17.9–15.1 kWh/100 km.

Charging: numbers that matter on the road

Peak DC charging reaches 400 kW on 800V stations. A 10-minute stop adds about 372 km. A 21-minute session covers 10% to 80%.

BMW also supports 400V DC charging. AC charging is 11 kW standard and 22 kW optional. Live charging curves display in the app.

Dimensions, utility, and daily function

The SUV’s dimensions sit at the heart of the mid-size class:

  • Length: 4,782 mm
  • Width: 1,895 mm
  • Height: 1,635 mm
  • Wheelbase: 2,897 mm

Cargo space ranges from 520–1,750 liters with a 58-liter front compartment. Towing capacity is 2,000 kg. Drag coefficient drops to 0.24.

Cabin tech: Panoramic iDrive and Panoramic Vision

BMW Panoramic iDrive debuts with Operating System X. It blends physical controls with clear digital interfaces.

BMW Panoramic Vision projects driving data across the windscreen. A 17.9-inch display anchors the infotainment system, offering deep personalization.

A new compute stack, dubbed superbrain, boosts driver assistance capability.

Sustainability and materials

BMW targets a 30% lower life-cycle footprint versus the previous iX3. More secondary raw materials and fossil-free production at Debrecen improve sustainability.

Seats use recycled PET, and chassis components integrate high recycled aluminum content.
