Kia unveiled today the first official images and information about the new generation of the Ceed. The South Korean model launched in 2006 is now at the third generation and promises major technological and technical improvements with the release of the new version. Ceed is one of Europe's top-selling Kia models.
Kia Ceed was the first Kia designed, developed and built in Europe, and the third generation of the compact model continues to be a 100% an European model. It will be built at the Kia factory in Zilina, Slovakia and the design and engineering part of the Kia Ceed has been developed at the Kia center in Frankfurt. Kia has sold today 1.28 million units of the first two generations of Ceed.
Kia Ceed has accumulated 16% of Kia's total sales in Europe in 2017. The model is built on Kia's new K2 platform. It will go on sale this year after the official debut at Geneva Motor Show.
Michael Cole, Chief Operating Officer for Kia Motors Europe, comments: "Building on these solid foundations, the all-new Ceed offers a truly contemporary and recognisable design, and advanced technologies to enhance comfort, convenience and safety. Its new engines and suspension will make it more enjoyable and engaging to drive, and will continue to offer the same high quality that customers expect from Kia. This will be one of the most innovative cars in its class."
Michael Cole adds: "The Ceed has become a recognisable sight on European roads, and buyers understand what it represents for Kia. It is a talisman for reliability and quality in the segment, with customers appreciating its safety and comfort technologies, and the fact that it is designed, developed, engineered and built here in Europe. The new model will reinforce and build upon these strengths."
