Renault is enhancing the capabilities of its medium van, which is perfectly adapted to the demands and expectations of artisans and fleets, with the new generation of Renault Trafic. The Renault Trafic debuted in 1980, is a best-seller with over 2.2 million clients in 50 countries.
The new Renault Trafic has its inside wholly redesigned with a new front end. As a result, it provided customer comfort and perceived quality similar to that of a passenger vehicle in a more valuable and practical cabin. Furthermore, more power and torque are available with the new Euro 6d-Full engine range. In addition, new driver assistance systems (ADAS) make it safer and easier to operate.
The new Renault Trafic has an entirely new front look, reinforcing the van's DNA as an elegant and energetic vehicle. The more horizontal hood and vertical grille give it a more robust and expressive look, complemented with full LED headlights and a revised bumper. Renault has picked Cumulus Blue as the debut color from the eight options offered. A new radio antenna, 17-inch wheels, and more attractive wheel covers are on the way.
The redesigned dashboard, distinguished by a horizontal line that extends into the door panels, increases the impression of space on board. In addition, the instrument panel, door panels, and gearshift knob are restyled, and chrome accents are added. All of this adds up to a considerable improvement in perceived quality.
The new Renault Trafic comes with electrically folding mirrors, new upholstery, and door panels with larger armrests. The cabin becomes a mobile office by folding down the center seat's backrest, with enough room for a laptop and an A4-size swivel stand to conveniently handle any working materials. The middle seat's folding backrest may also be utilized for a comfortable lunch break away from the elements. In terms of storage, the cabin is full of innovative solutions to simplify the customer's life, including the new EASY LIFE drawer, which has a total capacity of 88 liters – 54 of which are situated under the passenger bench seat – making it the best in class.
The new Renault Trafic has increased and enhanced its engine lineup to satisfy every requirement, now providing four Blue dCi engines ranging from 110 to 170 horsepower. The 2.0L engine is more powerful, increasing power ranging from 5 to 10 hp depending on the variant and higher torque. All engines are Euro 6d-Full compliant, have Stop & Start, and are paired with a manual transmission. Blue dCi 150 and 170 models are also available with an EDC dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The compartment in the bulkhead allows Renault Trafic to offer the best load length in the segment with 4.15m in the L2 (extended) version. The driver can lock/unlock the cabin and/or the loading area by using the zoning mode of the key or hands-free card. The optional improved LED inside illumination offers 500 lumens, five times more than a standard halogen bulb for simpler deliveries or tool retrieval.
The Renault Trafic, available in 275 variants, may be adjusted and customized as needed due to a broad range of choices, accessories, tailor-made modifications, and conversion possibilities.
The Renault Trafic is available in two lengths and two heights as a medium commercial van. In addition, it has a cargo volume ranging from 5.8 to 8.9 m3 and a wide range of crew cabs, glass, bulkheads, doors, and other options.
As a platform cab, it may be customized for various applications such as big boxes, refrigerated cells, food trucks, and tippers.
Since 2014, the Renault facility in Sandouville, Normandy (France) has been the only manufacturer of the third generation Trafic for all of the company's global markets. The facility will celebrate its 57th anniversary in 2021, having manufactured over 8 million automobiles, including over 800,000 Trafic.
The new Renault Trafic medium van will go on sale in Europe in late 2021.
