The new Enyaq Sportline iV 80x is the most powerful Skoda

The new Enyaq Sportline iV 80x is the most powerful Skoda

The Skoda Enyaq iV has a new sportier version to dazzle those who do not want to give up having good dynamic performance even in a family focus car. It cannot be denied that the Skoda Enyaq iV is far from being a sports car, but this does not prevent the new Enyaq Sportline iV 80x from becoming the most powerful Skoda in the history of the brand.

The most powerful variant of Skoda's electric SUV already has a first and last name: Enyaq Sportline iV 80x. It is an electric car with two electric motors, one on each axle, which provide all-wheel drive and total power of 265 hp, with a maximum torque of 425 Nm. These numbers make it, as we said, the most powerful production model in the history of the brand.

This power gain is achieved thanks to a second electric motor on the front axle (remember that the versions with a single motor have a rear-wheel-drive), which sends its power to the front wheels. The front electric motor is of the asynchronous type and delivers 109 HP of maximum power (80 kW) and 162 Nm of torque. Coupled to the engine is the gearbox, of a fixed ratio.

The rear-drive, meanwhile, is a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor that offers 204 hp of power and 310 Nm of maximum torque. Essentially, it's the same engine as the rear-wheel-drive iV 80 version. For the two electric motors to deliver their maximum power, the battery must have a temperature between 23º C and 50º C and a charge level higher than 88%.

The difference in the type of motor between the two axes is a matter of needs and use of the same: asynchronous motors are distinguished by their short-term overload capacity and low losses, making them the ideal choice for short-term power deliveries. For their part, synchronous motors have a high level of efficiency with good power delivery over a wide speed range.

The battery that powers these two engines is the Volkswagen Group's highest capacity package, a lithium-ion battery with a useful capacity of 77 kW (82 kWh gross) thanks to which this Skoda Enyaq Sportline iV 80x version can homologate more than 500 kilometres of WLTP autonomy (pending homologation). The Skoda Enyaq Sportline 80 version, with 4x2 traction, allows 527 kilometres of autonomy.

Although it is the most performance version, Skoda announces a maximum speed of 160 km / h, electronically limited to avoid triggering energy consumption. The Czech firm has not announced the 0-100 km / h of this version, which will surely lower the 8.5 seconds of the version with rear-wheel drive and 204 horses with ease.

This version is part of the brand's sportiest equipment line, the so-called Sportline. What does this imply? Modifications to the chassis, with a somewhat harder and sportier suspension setting, and a height reduction of 15 millimetres at the front and 10 millimetres at the rear.

It also comes standard with progressive power steering and specific equipment such as sports seats, perforated leather steering wheel, LED license plate headlights, 20-inch (21-inch optionally) wheels and black exterior accents - on the front grille, the wheel frames. windows or roof rails.
