Skoda is not wasting any time. The Czech automaker, part of the Volkswagen Group, has announced that its ambitious Skoda 7S Vision concept will become a reality sooner than expected. The Skoda 7S Vision is a stunning electric SUV that will offer seven seats, a spacious interior, and a range of over 600 km. It will be the new flagship model for Skoda and compete with the likes of Tesla Model X, Audi e-tron, and Mercedes EQC.

The Skoda 7S Vision was originally planned to go into production in 2026. Still, according to Thomas Kretschmer, Head of German Product Marketing at Skoda, the company has accelerated the development process and brought it forward to 2025. This is thanks to the use of the MEB modular platform from Volkswagen, which is designed exclusively for electric vehicles and allows for a high degree of flexibility and scalability.

The Skoda 7S Vision will be based on the concept car that was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2022. The concept car impressed the audience with its minimalist design, angular features, and futuristic details. The production version will retain most of these elements but will also have some practical modifications. For instance, the production car will have a real B-pillar and conventional doors instead of the portal doors that open in opposite directions on the concept car. It will also have a more realistic charging speed of 200 kW instead of the 350 kW that was claimed by the concept car.

The Skoda 7S Vision will have a length of 5.02 meters, making it a class above the current Skoda Kodiaq SUV. It will have a large, comfortable cabin accommodating up to seven passengers. The interior will feature a modern and minimalist design, with a large movable touchscreen on the dashboard and rotary controls on the center console. The interior will also be eco-friendly and animal-free, using sustainable materials such as recycled plastic and vegan leather.

The Skoda 7S Vision will have a powerful electric drivetrain that will deliver a range of over 600 km on a single charge. Depending on the driving conditions, it will also have an intelligent all-wheel drive system that can distribute torque between the front and rear axles. The Skoda 7S Vision will also have advanced driver assistance systems and connectivity features, making driving safer and more enjoyable.
