VW Commercial Vehicles has unveiled the new 2022 Volkswagen Multivan in a plug-in hybrid configuration. It is based on the  1.4 TSI 150 hp gasoline engine, and it is accompanied by a  109 hp electric motor. The new Volkswagen Multivan plug-in hybrid has a 13 kWh lithium-ion battery which enables a purely electric range of around 50 kilometres.

In addition to the plug-in hybrid configuration, the  2022 Volkswagen Multivan will also arrive with gasoline versions of 136 hp (1.5 TSI) and 204 hp (2.0 TSI). In all its configurations with DSG automatic transmission.

The 2022 Volkswagen T7 Multivan measures  4.97 meters long and 1.94 wide, as well as 1.90 meters high. Compared to the previous generation, it is somewhat longer, wider and lower. It also has a long body version, 5.17 meters long, but in both versions, the wheelbase is 3.12 meters. The trunk offers up to  4,053 litres of capacity in its longest version and has independent seats. The new MQB basis helps to make the T7 Multivan not only more digital but also more practical. And probably more efficient too.

The whole interior, like the exterior, is brand new. This includes the instrument panel - an ergonomically designed device with connected displays - Digital Cockpit (10.25-inch display) and infotainment (10-inch touch screen). Here it is important to mention that Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles also systematically uses digital technology to further refine Multivan's typical practical applicability in everyday life. An example of this is the space between the front seats.

Although until now there has never been a centre console installed in a Multivan, it is very convenient to be able to store things in such one. The same goes for the table in the back of the vehicle, which has been offered in all Multivan generations. Therefore, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has simply reinvented both and combined them. Thanks to an innovative locking system, this multifunctional equipment can be used as a centre console between the driver's seat and the front passenger seat or as a fold-out table with cup holders and storage space on the second or third row of seats.

The new Volkswagen Multivan is also available with a new feature in the form of a two-part panoramic glass roof. The transparent area is 913 mm wide and 403 mm long in front; above the second row of seats, this clear view is 910 mm wide and 1,284 mm long. Optional ambient lighting also creates a special lighting atmosphere.

The new 2022 Volkswagen Multivan is due to hit the market in autumn. VW Commercial Vehicles has not yet announced any prices, but an entry-level price of just under 40,000 euros is expected.

The new 2022 Volkswagen Multivan will coexist with the Volkswagen T6 because the previous generation is the one that will continue to be used as the basis for the VW Transporter and the Volkswagen California camper version.

The new Multivan is the most progressive Volkswagen Multivan ever. It is designed for drivers who love a charismatic design, maximum flexibility, intelligent solutions, connected entertainment, intelligent assistant systems and innovative driveline technology.
