2027 Dacia Hipster Targets £9,500: What Buyers Could Get

2027 Dacia Hipster

Brand

  • Dacia

The 2027 Dacia Hipster could bring four-seat electric motoring below £10,000. Autocar reports a UK target of around £9,500 and production in China during 2027, although Dacia has yet to confirm the programme's final approval.

Price grabs attention. The bigger question concerns capability: the reported production direction points towards an electric quadricycle, so buyers should judge it against their actual routes, passenger needs and charging access.

Price and Production: What the Report Says

Autocar identifies Shiyan, the former first-generation Dacia Spring production site, as the planned factory. Its sources describe reusing Dacia Spring components where practical to reduce development and manufacturing costs.

That approach has straightforward industrial logic. Carry-over parts can reduce tooling expenditure, while an existing factory avoids the expense of creating an entirely new production operation. Neither advantage guarantees the eventual retail price.

ItemReported production targetWhat buyers still need
UK starting priceAround £9,500Official on-the-road price
Production timing2027UK ordering and delivery dates
Battery capacity15kWhUsable capacity and charging rates
Motor outputAround 20bhpFinal output and acceleration
Vehicle categoryFour-seat L7e quadricycleFinal approved specification

These figures describe a developing project, not an orderable UK model.

Three Metres Long, Four Seats Inside

Dacia's official Hipster Concept provides firmer packaging data. Its upright body accommodates four seats within a three-metre length, while its boot offers 70 litres with the rear seats available and up to 500 litres with them folded.

Concept measurementMetric figureImperial equivalent
Length3,000mm118.1 inches
Width1,550mm61.0 inches
Height1,530mm60.2 inches
Boot, seats available70 litres2.5 cubic feet
Maximum boot volume500 litres17.7 cubic feet

The dimensions describe the concept; production specifications may change. Looking at the data, the luggage trade-off deserves attention: four occupants leave little shopping space, while folding the rear seats sacrifices passenger capacity.

Dacia also simplified the concept's construction:

  • Only three body elements require paint.
  • Rear lamps sit behind the tailgate glass, removing the need for separate glazing.
  • A smartphone supplies functions that would otherwise need dedicated onboard equipment.

The engineering aim is clear: reduce parts, processing and duplication before adding expensive technology.

What Could a 15kWh Battery Deliver?

Capacity alone does not establish electric driving range. As an illustrative scenario, 15kWh of usable energy would support 150km at 10kWh/100km, or 125km at 12kWh/100km.

Those figures equal approximately 93 and 78 miles. They are arithmetic examples, not Dacia Hipster range claims, and assume the full 15kWh is usable. Heating demand, temperature, speed and a driver's remaining-charge buffer would change practical results.

Should You Wait for the Dacia Hipster?

Shortlist it for local trips, but wait for production data before delaying a necessary purchase. A low purchase price offers limited value if passenger space or charging requirements do not suit your routine.

Pro-Tips: Record a normal week's mileage, check your longest regular trip and price your likely charging method. Before committing, request the final range, charging specification, warranty and safety-equipment list. Compare total ownership costs with a used conventional small car as well as other microcars.
