Skoda wants to at least triple car sales

Skoda faced major challenges this year. The Volkswagen subsidiary nevertheless managed to achieve a record market share and move up to sixth place in ranking in Germany. The Czech manufacturer also wants to celebrate successes in 2021, and the new electric cars are expected to contribute even more than this year.

This year, Skoda Germany expects around 180,000 new registrations. This includes Skoda's first electric car Citigo-e iV. Skoda started production of the Enyaq iV at the end of November. The electric SUV is the brand's first production model to be based on the new MEB electric car platform from Volkswagen. The plug-in hybrid versions of the Skoda Octavia and the Skoda Superb are already available, both as sedans and station wagons.

The demand for Skoda's electric models is already high: the Citigo-e iV and the Superb iV have had over 10,000 registrations so far. The proportion between the two models is almost 50:50. The Octavia iV has only recently been available to order and is therefore not yet included in the registration numbers mentioned.

Skoda Enyaq iV, which was officially presented in September, has over 2000 orders already. The interest in Enyaq iV was even so high that the manufacturer's hotline was literally overrun. The production capacities had to be increased many times over.

In view of the expanded range of electrified vehicles, Skoda is aiming to at least triple the number of new registrations of models with battery or plug-in hybrid drives in Germany. In 2021 this would correspond to sales of 30,000 or more electric vehicles. Accurate details on further model planning for the new e-mobility sub-brand iV are currently not known.

Skoda Enyaq iV is the second all-electric model of the brand after the small electric car Citigo-e iV. It is a close relative of the upcoming VW ID.4. Buyers can choose between three battery sizes up to 80 kWh, rear-wheel and all-wheel drive as well as differently powerful drives with a maximum of 225 kW / 306 PS. Prices start at 33,800 euros for the variant with a range of 340 kilometres and 109 kW / 148 hp.
