The new Peugeot 308 wins "Women's World Car of the Year 2022"

Peugeot 308

Peugeot's new 308 has been awarded the "Women's World Car of the Year 2022." The votes of the 56 jury members of the WWCOTY were tallied for this purpose – all of them were women and represented 40 nations on five continents. The Peugeot 308 outperformed all 65 new vehicles introduced in 2021.

The "Women's World Car of the Year" award is presented in two rounds: The first round concludes with the announcement of the winners in six different categories. The Peugeot 308 was named "Urban and Compact Car of the Year 2022" here on February 14, 2022, by a jury of 56 automotive journalists. As a result, the Peugeot 308 emerged as the overall winner and was awarded the prestigious "Women's World Car of the Year" title. The title refers to two new Peugeot 308 variants: the Peugeot 308 sedan and the Peugeot 308 station wagon.

This is the first time Peugeot has received this honor. Its worldwide focus represents the brand's adamant commitment to international development.

The new Peugeot 308 is the brand's first model to have the new logo, and it impresses with its appearance, technology, and wide choice of economical engines. Customers may select from various powertrain options, including plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), gasoline, diesel, and, shortly, all-electric vehicles. The new Peugeot 308 embodies the Peugeot qualities of charisma, quality, and passion. The new Peugeot 308 has already surpassed 65,000 orders in Europe since its market introduction at the end of 2021, with 23% of orders being plug-in hybrids.

Since the trophy's inception in 2009, the new Peugeot 308 has been the first Peugeot model to win the Women's World Car of the Year award. Although Peugeot has previously won several awards at WWCOTY, in 2017 with the success of the Peugeot 3008 in the SUV category and 2021 with the victories of the Peugeot 208 and Peugeot 2008 in the city vehicle and city SUV categories, respectively, this is the first time Peugeot has won the top title.

"I am pleased with the WWCOTY award for the new Peugeot 308 and congratulate the whole Peugeot team on this success," says Linda Jackson, Global CEO of Peugeot. The new Peugeot 308 was chosen not only for its technical specifications but also because it meets the demands of millions of prospective purchasers in the nations represented by the Women's World Car of the Year jury. Whatever their requirements, habits, and ambitions, the Peugeot 308 range has a vehicle to fit them: it is stylish, efficient, useful, and accessible."

The new Peugeot 308 was created and engineered to exceed C-segment customers' expectations of outward and interior design, functionality, equipment, engine performance, and value for money. In addition, the refined design adds to the sedan and station wagon models' comfy interiors.

The new Peugeot 308 has the most advanced driver aid technologies available. In addition, the Peugeot i-Cockpit has grown to incorporate a connected and intuitive infotainment system comparable to that of a smartphone.

Since its beginning, the new Peugeot 308 has been offered with petrol and diesel engines and plug-in hybrid models. The new Peugeot e-308 electric car (sedan and station wagon) will arrive in 2023.

According to some judges:

"What matters most to me is that it has adequate mid-range power and a seamless automatic transmission," Vietnam, Hoa Hguyen.

"Not satisfied with sustaining and consolidating its achievements, the Peugeot 308 continually strives to outperform itself," Jimena Olazar, Argentina.

"It is simple to drive, even in Japan's small streets. Moreover, its turbocharged engine is Extraordinary and Quiet," according to Japan's Etsuko Kusuda.

"Peugeot has not only won over families with a well-thought-out offer and an eye-catching image, but also those searching for a variety of power options: petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid, and an electric vehicle that will be available next year." Carla B. Ribeiro was born in Portugal.

"This is not an extravagant fantasy automobile for the fortunate few, but a vehicle that the majority of families can afford," Malene Raith, Denmark.

Since 2009, the WWCOTY has been the world's first automobile award presented entirely by female automotive journalists.

The voting criteria are identical to those used by any motorist when selecting a car. In addition, the vote considers factors such as safety, quality, purchasing price, design, intuitive driving, and ecological impact.

New Zealand, Spain, Austria, Dubai, Russia, Brazil, Japan, Cyprus, Italy, Finland, the United States of America, Germany, Portugal, Argentina, Mexico, South Africa, Canada, Vietnam, Ireland, Estonia, Israel, Chile, England, Greece, Colombia, Australia, the Netherlands, India, Denmark, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, the Czech Republic, Ecuador, France, and Peru are among the countries represented.
